What Happens on a Book Tour
The author decides to initiate a book tour and decides what dates are convenient for them. The book tour spans over two or three weeks of weekdays. The author is expected to visit each blog each day to leave comments and engage in dialogue with the commenters and to answer questions. The author is expected to give each blogger a copy of their book. If their publisher sends the book, the author is responsible to send their publisher the list of addresses of the Blog Hosts and to check later that the books were sent out in a timely manner. The author discusses with BronzeWord whether they choose to offer autographed books for a prize to a commenter on each blog. Then the author decides whether they wish to receive the name of the winner each day or allow BronzeWord to gather all the name throughout the two or three weeks and send a final list of all names to the author after the tour is completed. The author is asked to send: 1. Author bio 2. Author pic 3. Book description 4. Book cover artBronzeWord submits the author’s material to a list of bloggers, and the bloggers decide whether they wish to host the author.BronzeWord and the bloggers discuss which days they will host the author.BronzeWord gathers from each blogger whether they want an article, essay, or have questions.BronzeWord passes these requests from the bloggers to the author. When the author has written the article or answered the questions, they send it back to BronzeWord. We forward the segment to the right blogger, along with the Amazon Buy Book Widget.BronzeWord creates a newsletter announcing the book tour. We send the newsletter to all blog hosts and the author. Then send it out to extensive contact list. Each person is encouraged to send out the newsletter to their contact list and share wherever they send information about their activities. The blog owner promotes the tour through all their social networking accounts like Twitter and Facebook. One great way to promote on Facebook is to create an event using the information from the book tour page. Then send to all their “friends” on their Facebook account. This is also a good strategy for the author to do or add to their fan page. Here is the URL of a site that did an excellent job of talking up the tour.http://caroincarolina.blogspot.com/2009/08/bronzeword-latino-virtual-book-tour.htmlA couple of days before the book tour begins, BronzeWord sends a “checklist” to all the blog hosts to ensure everyone has all they need to post successfully, including the entire list of blogs on the tour with their URL.Each Blogger list the sites of who is participating on the tour at the bottom of their page of the author’s post when the author visits.BronzeWord will blog about the tour listing all of you and will twitter each day about each one of you. BronzeWord will post highlights and tour schedule at various ning networks for Latino/as. Also the schedule will be posted at different press release sites and on different Latino/a aimed magazines. It’s thoughtful to visit each other’s blog and leave a comment. On the day a blogger is scheduled, they will use the bio to introduce the author, then post the authors guest. At the bottom, they post the Amazon buy button and post the list of the tour. The author visits each site all day and answers any questions any commenter leaves. The author will engage in a conversation with the commenters. To win an autographed copy of the author’s book, a person leaves a comment on that day with their email addy. At the end of the day, the Blog Host will pick a winner. They email the winner and get their snail mail address. Then they send me the winner’s name with the address.
At the author's choice, I will either send the winner's name daily or hold all the name until the end of the tour.

A VBT is a promotional tool that creates a buzz for your book, helps with name recognition, and allows authors to reach a wide audience. Like an in-store book signing, a VBT gives authors the opportunity to tell potential readers about their books. In addition, VBTs increase hits to the host websites and/or blogs, and increase their page ranking in search engines.
